Signing up with a Web Host
There are many different web hosts, but they all share a similar sign-up procedure.
You go to their website, choose a plan and a payment frequency, provide some details and pay, using one of the payment options offered.
Before you can build your website on your web host's platform, you need to point your domain name to your web host's servers. This is covered in the next lesson.
I will go through signing up with SiteGround, the web host recommended in the previous lesson.
SiteGround
Click on the link SiteGround.
You will see a lot of useful information about SiteGround, along with any current price deals.
Scroll down until you see the three hosting types: Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting and WooCommerce Hosting.

You will be creating a website based on the WordPress platform, so click the See Plans button under the WordPress Hosting type.
This will bring you to a screen showing the current special pricing.

Click on the View Plans button.
You will then see details of the three WordPress plans: StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek.

For the reasons outlined in the previous lesson, I recommend that you start with StartUp and upgrade only when you need the extra power.
So click on the Get Plan button under the StartUp option.
Edit the Plan Details
You can control which SiteGround data center to use and the payment frequency.

Choose a data center close to your largest customer base. However, don't stress over this. As long as you get the country right, it will have no effect on speed or reliability.

Select your preferred payment period from 1, 12 or 24 months.
Note that special pricing is often offered on the longer renewal terms only.
Scroll down to the Payment Summary and enter your credit or debit card details.
The Payment Summary will show any additional taxes applicable, including VAT, GST and other Federal and State taxes.

Check the confirmation box and then click on the Pay Now button.
Once your payment has been accepted and processed, you will be able to set up login credentials to access your Siteground account in the future.
Outcomes
At the end of this session, you should have signed up with your selected web host.
As you have already registered your domain name, you are almost ready to start building your website.
You will learn how to do that in the next module.
