Lesson 1: Research Your Topic

Research Your Topic

Your blog posts are going to fall into two broad categories:

  • Informational. Your aim is to educate and/or entertain your audience, at the same time enhancing your reputation as an expert in your niche
  • Commercial. Your aim is either to move your visitor along a buying funnel now or to capture their details and add them to your list for a subsequent sales pitch.

And, of course, you may combine the two by providing valuable information that segues naturally into a product promotion.

But in all cases, unless you are already the acknowledged world expert on the subject, you will need to research your topic.

How to Research a Topic

Fortunately, this has never been easier.

The combination of the world's knowledge available on the internet and the increasing sophistication of search engines such as Google and Bing have created amazing opportunities for all of us.
